Moving house can be a tricky time. With lots of people coming in and out of your house it’s easy for things to go in the wrong place or wrong box. To make sure your fully prepared it’s always good to pack your essentials that are easy to find in the first few days in your new home. Here is our advice for your survival kit.
Essentials box
Your moving house essentials box should contain the things you use every day. Medicines, toilet roll, black bin liners, phone chargers, food and water, pyjamas, a change of clothes, first-aid kit, anything that you would need if you were sleeping anywhere other than your own home. If you are moving with children don’t forget their essentials too. Their favourite toy, game and snacks
Bedding, towels and toiletries
It’s always a long and exhausting day and you don’t want to be searching through all the boxes to find your pillows and duvets. Make sure they are easy to find and don’t forget to add towels and toiletries for everyone so you can have that all important shower.
Kitchen essentials
Kettle, mugs, tea, coffee and microwave. You probably won’t want to be cooking on the first few nights so being able to use your microwave is pretty handy.
DIY toolbox
You won’t need everything but being able to find your basic tools in the first few days will be really handy for dismantling or reassembling your furniture.
- Screwdriver
- Hammer
- Drill
- Tape
- Box cutter and/or scissors
- Torch and batteries
