Members of the BAR

At Clarks of Amersham we are members of the BAR, The British Association of Removers. They aim to promote excellence in the removals industry.

Being a member means you are assured the we have complied to the Chartered Trading Standards Institute approved code of practice. This code ensures that the standard of service, the quality of the materials, vehicles, warehouses, staff and all of their training are of the highest quality.

For over 100 years the BAR has been the recognised voice of the professional moving and storage industry in the UK but not any removal company can become a member. They regularly inspect potential and existing members ensuring they fulfill a stringent set of rules and regulations, carrying out on-site inspections and frequently monitor customer service and satisfaction.

Why the ISO certifications matter to you

At Clarks of Amersham part of our commitment to our customers is to continually provide the highest level of service and delivery. As a result, we are tested annually by Quality Service Standards certifications to retain our certifications.

BS EN 12522 for furniture removal services for private individuals. This demonstrates to our potential customers our ongoing commitment to service. It’s a voluntary certification that shows our service meets the applicable and appropriate British and European standards for quality, safety, performance and trust. ISO 9001 Quality Management System is a set of policies, processes and procedures that are required to plan and execute our business activities. By continuing to achieve this certification we are able reduce our costs, collect and assess feedback thus improving our customer satisfaction levels, work more efficiently and improve the quality of the service we provide.

By achieving this certification, we are saying to you that we are a removal and storage supplier to be trusted. We are committed to help reduce the impact we have on the environment and continually review our policies, and procedures, measure and obtain feedback and make improvements to our day-to-day operations based on these results. FORS silver level

Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) is a voluntary accreditation scheme for fleet operators which aims to raise the level of quality within fleet operations, and to demonstrate which operators are achieving exemplary levels of best practice in safety, efficiency, and environmental protection.

Achieving this level is absolute testament to our fantastic, hardworking team and reinforces our dedication to continued improvement in best work practices with particular emphasis on Health & Safety and being environmentally friendly.

By achieving FORS Silver accreditation shows our fleet is compliant with the CLOCS Standard for Construction Logistics and with TfL’s WRRR (Work Related Road Risk.)

When you move home, it is standard practice for you to pay for your removal in advance. What happens then if your chosen remover suffers financial failure before your moving date?  You would lose any payments you may have already made.APG_scheme

Because Clarks of Amersham is a member of the (BAR) British Association of Removers we offer you complete protection with the Advanced Payment Guarantee Scheme.

What does this mean for you?

  • The scheme covers advanced payments (cash, BACS payments and/or debit card payments) made for private residential contracts concluded in the United Kingdom (only), in order to protect YOU against the risk of a BAR member in financial failure.
  • It is designed to cover Domestic, European and International moves.
  • The APG scheme is just one of the many benefits of using a BAR Member, as well as the BAR Code of Practice; Members must also reach and maintain the Criteria of BAR Membership.
  • The BAR also provide an Alternative Disputes Resolution scheme for consumers, which is handled independently by an approved Consumer ADR body under the ADR Regulations 2015.

What does it cover?

  • Every BAR Member is covered by the scheme
  • Cash, BACS and debit card advanced payments
  • All private residential removal & storage contracts concluded in the UK

Furniture & Home Improvement OmbudsmanAt Clarks of Amersham we are proud to carry the British Association of Removers (BAR) badge, this means peace of mind for you. In the unlikely event that you may need to make a complaint you are fully supported by an independent body.

Complaints are handled exclusively by The Furniture & Home Improvement Ombudsman who are a qualified, independent, not-for-profit government approved organisation set up to help resolve disputes.

Advice and Support

They have a simple process. To access this service you must:

    • First refer the matter to us at Clarks of Amersham and it must be done within 12 months of your removal taking place.
    • We then will acknowledge your complaint within 3 working days of receipt
    • We then carry out at an internal investigation and provide you with a formal written outcome within 15 working days
    • If you are still unhappy, we as your remover will provide you with a written statement expressing our final viewpoint after a second review of your complaint. This must be done within 8 weeks.

For over 100 years the British Association of Removers (BAR) has been the recognised voice of the professional moving and storage industry in the United Kingdom. Currently, it has 470 Members in the UK working out of 652 branch locations. Its Members carry out some 400,000 moves within the UK and worldwide each year.

As a BAR removal company you have access to the BAR Association who provide advice and support should you experience a problem. All Members based in the UK comply with the BAR/TSI Code of Practice and their assessment.  In the event of a dispute and for urgent advice, please call their Consumer Affairs Department on 01923 699 486.
